Ingredients in Doritos

The reason behind why I decided to start a research project on the product Doritos is because I love them, I always like to eat it every time I get the chance to and i am curious to know what i'm  really eating. I am a often consumer of this product and i would like to be inform what i am consuming and inputting into my body. I wanna know if there's any harmful ingredients made with chemicals that will damage my digestive system or put my health at risk. Doritos is a brand or seasoned tortilla chips produced since 1964 by american food company Frito-Lays (a wholly owned of PepsiCo ). Doritos was first introduced in 1964 which is 50 years ago it was spread nationwide in 1966 which is 48 years ago the owner is Frito-Lay. The product Doritos has been in the market for many years and has many consumers world wide.

 Five ingredients in this product that I will start an initiative to research include the following ;Monosodium Glutamate , Disodium Inosinate ,  Dextrose, Maltodextrin, and Lactose. I would like the research to give me a better understanding of what i'm consuming and what the Frito-Lays company put in their product.

Name of the ingredient is Monosodium Glutamate

 The chemical formula for Monosodium Glutamate is -> C5H8NO4Na

Some health effects of the ingredient is that under normal conditions , humans can metabolize relatively large quantities of glutamate . the median lethal dose (LD50) is between 15 and 18 g/kg body weight in rats and mice , respectively, five times greater than the LD50 of salt (3 g/kg in rats).The use of MSG as a food additive and the natural level of glutamic acid in foods are not toxicological concerns in humans.

MSG is found in tomatoes, Parmesan, potatoes, mushrooms, and other vegetables and fruits

chemical and physical properties of MSG, MSG is freely soluble in water, but it is not hygroscopic and is generally stable under food-processing conditions. MSG dose not break down during cooking and, like other amino acids, will exhibit a Maillard reaction (browning) in the presence of sugar at very high temperatures.

 The purpose in including MSG in Doritos is that its a flavor enhancer

The name of the ingredient is Disodium Inosinate its soluble in water. Its a solid

 There are no health affects in the ingredient  Disodium Inosinate

 Disodium Inosinate is generally produce from meat or fish

 physical and chemical properties of Disodium Inosinate are that its

the purpose for including Disodium Inosinate in Doritos is that it is a flavor enhancer to provide the umami taste

The health affects of Dextrose is if you  have to 

much it may lead 

to 

prediabetes or diabetes mellitus

The physical and chemical properties of 


Dextrose is that all form of 

glucose are colorless and easily soluble 

in water. They are only sparingly soluble in 

methanol and ethanol
